CEF Teacher Awards

The Catholic Education Foundation Teacher Awards were established in 2004. The awards are given by the Catholic Education Foundation and funded by the Dan Ulmer Family. The award recognizes the excellence and dedication of our Catholic school teachers who continually surpass expectations.

Each elementary and high school in the Archdiocese of Louisville can submit one nomination for this award each year. A nominee must be currently employed as a teacher in the Archdiocese of Louisville with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Nominees must hold a current teacher certification in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Nominees must have a positive influence on the lives of their students and must utilize innovative and creative teaching styles and best practices.

From 2004 to 2008, the Catholic Education Foundation Teacher Awards were presented to teachers when Dan and Helen Ulmer visited each school to present the award. More recently, the elementary awards have been presented at the Opening School event in August and the high school awards have been presented at the School Service luncheon in November.

The Catholic Education Foundation Teacher Awards have been presented to more than 200 educators in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Recipients of the CEF Teacher Award receive a monetary gift for their own use. They will also receive an original piece of artwork, designed by artist Mark Payton of Payton Flameworks.
