- This is the good news shared with the Holy Cross students this morning:
Reflection Song-“My Old Kentucky Home” John Prine
Good Morning Holy Cross! Please stand as we begin with this morning’s reflection and prayer.
You’d have to be living under a rock if you didn’t know it was Derby week here in Louisville. It is always an exciting time. It really is a beautiful thing to watch the horses run but one of the peculiar things about horse racing is that I often notice that some wear the blinders. They look a little like glasses on a horse. Why would horses wear these? Not all horses do. Well, typically the horses that wear the blinders are those that need help focusing on what is in front and not what is happening side to side. These horse need help to see the goal and not get distracted by the fans or the other horses. As we come into Derby Week we are also coming in the home stretch of this school year. We all need some blinders—we all need to stay focused on finishing strong and not be distracted by all that is going on around us. May we all be winners and cross the finish line of this school year with great joy!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord of challenge and patience, you give us this race of life and we thank you for it. Forgive us when we lose our focus on the prize and don’t always give our best effort. Lord, it’s hard to continue at a challenging pace, the finish line is near in this school year and at times we just want to “make it” rather than finish strong. Give us perseverance to do all we can to finish this school year with our best effort We ask this through Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
