We partner with local elementary and middle schools, hospitals, pediatricians, cities and recreation centers throughout the US, addressing socio-economic issues and defining the underlying childhood obesity problem in our nation. We do this through our unique core programs; such as, Family Fit ‘n FUN Club, Earn It After School Programs and our Summer Adventure STEAM Camp. We incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Athletics and Mathematics (STEAM) learning, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Conflict Resolution and basic knowledge of form and function of the Human Body along with simple agricultural education focusing on the relationship between people and food – where it comes from, how to harvest and prepare it and how it affects us, both physically and emotionally. Fit2beKids presents all programming with the fundamental principles of these 7-Dimensions of Wellness: Physical/Nutritional, Social, Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, Environmental and Community/Occupational.

Initially, F2BK programs were designed to address two main behavior changes at the family-unit level – physical activity and nutrition choices. Unaware of its true impact and significance, we designed and developed the programs for the outdoors, typically being held at public parks or other outdoor environments. Having exposure to nature has been scientifically proven to heal the mind and the body, and all F2BK participants have experienced these positive effects. The air is better outdoors, which promotes healthy brain activity, and the outdoors stimulates creativity, encourages physical activity and burns excessive energy. Being outdoors is family friendly, it improves overall health, and it’s where science happens.

Saturdays

Family Fit ‘N Fun Club

A Saturday program that is the founding concept behind F2BK’s mission of health and wellness being addressed at the family-unit level. While the program is designed for community youth, parent participation is required in order to build a holistic approach to family health. The program is intended to build basic nutritional awareness amongst those who make “food” decisions in the child’s household with the obvious goal being promoting health and wellness. The program incorporates guided individual and group physical activities for various age groups facilitated mostly in the outdoors.

After School

Earn It

This after-school program is a fun, engaging, goal-oriented and potentially everlasting health and wellness activity designed to build basic understanding of “effort, progress and reward” at the personal character level. The method of the program compiles incremental physical effort, tracks progress over an extended period of time and equates collective results to an exciting reward that builds perspective, understanding, perseverance and persistence. The program is unique in its approach to physical activity, emotional development and cognitive skills. Each child will have the opportunity to learn and earn while working at their own pace.

Summer Adventure STEAM Camp

A summer program built on the 7-Dimensions of Wellness, in which every week’s activities are designed to develop better understanding and stronger adoption of each dimension. The curriculum is carefully tailored to develop character-building traits like self-reliance, resilience, confidence, collaboration and critical thinking, among others. The experience-based learning environment is facilitated mostly in the outdoors where children can interact with nature and each other in a guided structure. Each child has the opportunity to build memories, develop bonds and create experiences that grow the mind and sooth the soul.
