Can you volunteer 5 hours in a year to keep our children safe?
That's correct! The minimum expectation for each family is only five hours for the entire year to assure the safety of our children. With over 500 families, we can easily have 3-5 volunteers each day -- on the playground, in the cafeteria, and more. Read below to learn about our easier method for signing up and for the incentives to volunteer!
This year we are moving to a new system to help us better manage our wonderful volunteers as we keep our children safe. We have set up a system called Sign Up Genius where each volunteer will sign up for the day(s) they can work. If each family takes a minimum of 5 hours throughout the year at a time that is convenient for you, our volunteer goals will be covered.
Specifications: For the cafeteria and recess help, the minimum number of Virtus Trained volunteers needed for each day is two, and four volunteers would be better. Please remember that siblings are NOT allowed to come while you are volunteering (a little too distracting). What will you be asked to do? Volunteers keep a watchful eye on students (especially during recess and lunch) to ensure safety, cleanliness, efficiency, and good behavior. It's a terrific opportunity to observe the interaction between and among the children! Will you consider giving us a helping hand?
Incentives: Not that anyone needs more than a request to step forward, but we do have a couple of incentives for homerooms that are "just for fun!" Each of the following is for a single homerooms:
1. At least one parent in each family is Virtus trained. A grandparent may also be Virtus trained, but may only be counted for one of their grandchildren's homerooms (apologies to the loving grandparents!) = Additional recess time for the homeroom.
2. 25% of the representatives from each family achieves the 5 hour minimum requirement for volunteering = Additional recess time for the homeroom.
2. 50% of the representatives from each family achieves the 5 hour minimum requirement for volunteering = Out of uniform day for the homeroom AND additional recess time for the homeroom.
3. 75% of the representatives from each family achieves the 5 hour minimum requirement for volunteering = Out of uniform day for the homeroom, additional recess time for the homeroom, AND Slushies for each child.
4. 100% of the representatives from each family achieves the 5 hour minimum requirement for volunteering = Out of uniform day for the homeroom, additional recess time for the homeroom, and a pizza lunch for all!
