Beautification Fund

Spring has indeed arrived and that means once again we are asking (okay begging) for new donations to the Beautification Fund.

The past few years has seen many landscape and planting projects done on both courses and hope that all of you appreciate what we now have. This past winter, much tree work was done on the property with a few removals and much limbing up of trees. What this means is that you may not need your 3 or 4 iron to punch out quite as much this upcoming season. There are more projects that you will see completed this spring and summer including a planting of trees that prefer having wet feet (think Common Baldcypress, Dawn Redwood, and River Birch) to the left of #2 Scarlet fairway between the fairway bunkers and the putting green.

Of course all of this was made possible by your generous donations to the OSU Golf Course Beautification Fund. These projects were 100% financed from this fund. Without your donations, these types of projects will not be able to continue. For past donors, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  For those new members or those of you that have not contributed in the past, please consider donating so we can continue to make YOUR golf club a beautiful place to play and where you can proudly bring guests.

Giving online is really easy. Just go online and donate at www.osu.edu/giving, click on Give Today, then click on Search and put in #314447. This should pull up the OSU Golf Course Beautification Fund and click Select. Put in your dollar amount, fill in the required information, and then click on Give Now.

Or simply write a check made out to The Ohio State University Foundation and be sure to put in the memo line Fund #314447 and mail to the OSU Golf Club, Attn. Douglas Knaup, Course Horticulturist, 3605 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH  43221.

Please keep in mind that all donations are tax deductible. To date, nearly $42,000 has been donated! Since its inception in 2008, the Beautification Fund has without question enhanced the beauty of our treasured Alister MacKenzie golf courses.

Sincerely,
J.DOUGLAS KNAUP
