Mrs. Michelle Derry
Mrs. Michelle Derry has a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from the University of Louisville and Elementary Education Certification through Indiana University, Southeast. In addition to her current credentials, she also has earned twelve hours towards her Master’s in Education degree.
Locally, her experience includes teaching at Christian Academy of Louisville for seven years and last year returned from teaching abroad in North Africa at an International School for two years in addition to other various countries teaching English. Mrs. Derry grew up in southern Indiana and knew she wanted to be a teacher when she was in the fourth grade. She remembers playing “teacher” in the hayloft of her family’s farm. She had it set up with desks, a chalkboard, and stuffed animals and dolls.
Mrs. Derry and her husband Eric celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary this past February. They have three grown sons, two daughters-in-law and a new granddaughter - she loves being a mom, a "grammy" and a teacher! She enjoys cooking and traveling with her family, baking, crafts, and scrapbooking. Mrs. Derry enjoys teaching and watching as the world opens up to her First Grade students through reading!
